Our Story
Privacy is a civic right — and a skill anyone can learn.
Our mission
Privacy is a civic right — and a skill anyone can learn.
WeThePurple is an independent publication about privacy and digital rights. We publish honest, plain-language guides to the privacy tools people actually use, practical how-tos for protecting yourself online, and clear explainers on surveillance and the rights at stake.
Our aim is simple: make privacy understandable and achievable for ordinary people, without fear-mongering, hype, or invented statistics. We test the claims we report against public, verifiable sources, and we say plainly when something is a trade-off rather than a magic fix.
Why this domain
This domain previously carried the Purple Project for Democracy, a non-partisan civic initiative. WeThePurple is a new, independent publication; we are not the same organisation and we make no claim to continue its work or its team.
What we do carry forward is the spirit we read in that name — the idea that civic life and individual rights belong to everyone, beyond party lines. We extend that idea to the digital world: privacy as a civic right, and digital rights as something worth understanding and defending.
An independent project
WeThePurple is an independent publication. Some guides contain affiliate links to privacy tools we describe; these are always clearly disclosed and never change our recommendations. We do not invent reviews, ratings, figures or experiences.
